Privacy Policy

To use Messenger Classic you create an account with an email address and a password. We store your email, a hashed password, your display name, optional username, and authentication tokens needed to keep you signed in. We never sell your account data.

One-to-one and group messages you send are stored on our servers so they can be delivered to your contacts and shown in your history. Messages are accessible only to you and the recipients of the conversation. Administrators do not read your messages except where strictly required to investigate abuse or comply with the law.

Audio and video calls use peer-to-peer connections whenever possible. Call signalling (who is calling whom, call start and end times) transits our servers so the call can be established. We do not record the content of your audio or video calls.

Your profile (display name, status, personal message, avatar, music status) is visible to your contacts and to people who can see your public profile. You can edit or remove this information at any time from the app.

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your language, your appearance preferences (classic mode, sounds, notifications), and to make the app work offline-friendly. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Account data and messages are kept for as long as your account exists. Server logs used for security and abuse prevention are kept for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) and then deleted or anonymised.

You can delete your account at any time from the in-app Settings menu (Settings → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, your messages, your contacts list and your uploaded images from our active systems. Backups are rotated and overwritten within 30 days.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these rights directly inside the app or by contacting us.
